I even found the caterpillar of this beautiful butterfly on my potato plants

If you look at the Peacock butterfly this way it really is as if it is looking at you.

Small creatures from the summer garden #6: White-edged grasshopper (Chorthippus albomarginatus)

This is a common grasshopper in Germany and I find them beautiful. With the light brown colour they are nicely camouflaged, but you can also find them with a darker brown, or greenish.
